Somsak Mining-Forest Glade Home
Somsak Mining, locally known as Forest Glade Home at the present, is an interesting attraction for look around old mining area and tasting cake by Glade, the owner of the house. Visitors would be amazed when arriving in this attraction because it is like a small house in the forest center. It is really popular for Thai visitors who like to challenge the unstable street leading to this place. It is located at Thong Pha Phum district, in rural area though.
About forty years ago, Somsak mining was really popular. There were more than 600 miners working here. Unfortunately, in 1986 , when the price of ores became so cheap that it is not good enough to invest, Somsak Mining had to be closed by Mr.Somsak. Eight years later, mr.Somsak passed away and Mrs.Glade took care of this place really well so that this place could still be the same to be the memorized place towards his husband.
What we should call this place now is Forest Glade Home, where the house was decorated with simple retrospective style. Visitors come here for stay over a night or tasting coffee and cake, where the cake here is really famous for Thai visitors. Mrs.Glade is really welcome person, so visitors who come here once usually come here again.
Those who would like to visit Forest Glade Home need to have a 4-wheel-drive vehicle because it is really difficult for normal car to pass through roughly street to Glade Home. However, those who have a reservation for a room at Glade Home can ask for picking up in advance. There will be an officer from Glade Home to pick them up.
